ok so im building 2 systems right now.

1. 3.2 prescott
Asus P4P00e-deluxe 865
geil pc 3200
6800gt.

What would be a good cooler for that intel setup? i hear the prescotts run really hot.

sytem #2

Amd64 3500+
abit v8 kt800pro
68gt or x800xt
ocz pc3500

what would be a good fan for the amd system? the AMD system will most likely be overclocked.

Unless you will be overclocking, I would just use the stock cooling....if you are overclocking, Thermaltake seems to make good CPU coolers

Ill have to recommend coolmaster, though ive given up on fans since they tend to get far too noisy for me in the long run :P

hahaah that mod was funny. ummm i hear those prescotts get pretty hot so i wanted to get something good to cool it.

the stock cooler will be fine if you're not overclocking.

Thermalright (not -take) make some of the best all copper coolers around..

sidewinder, thats the prob, i got the 3.2 for free, but i dont have the fan or heatsink. i actually have a old thermaltake spark7, but not too sure if it'll cool down a 3.2 prescott.

oh yea, for the p4, sounds doesnt matter.

for the AMD64 3500+ 90nm, i'd like to have it quiet as possible.

Thermalright all the way.
I absolutely loved my SLK800U for my Athlon XP system. Best coolers you can buy and very versitile.

SLK-947U and SLK-948U work on both Intel (P4) and AMD (A64) platforms.

ASUS, i need to get a fan also right? that heatpipe alone wouldnt do the job, would it?

Right. You can choose which size and performance of fan you want to use.
80mm fan size is probably the best choice. There are a number of fans out there that have low noise and perform very well. With the fan being 80mm, there should be good pressure in the center of the heatsink. If you go to 92mm it may be quiter but you loose performance and pressure in the center of the heatsink with the air going just around the sides.
