Since my other topic was deleted, I want to know, can I or can I not instal halfl-life 2, on two PCs, in the same house, with the same game, and cd key, without my game being unusable. Im asking because I've heard of many accounts being shut down for being suspected of being phony accounts. Does this mean its just shut down for online play, or you cant play the game at all?
Thanks

Yes you can have it on 2 PC's but you cant login into 1 account on 2 PC's

Is it possible to play the game at the same time on the two PCs while using a no CD crack on one? Usually my brother is playing it on one computer, while I want to play it at the same time. I dont want to hook up to any online gaming, I just want to play the game itself.

I've heard of people getting 2 PCs running from the one account without doing anything special, but I wouldn't risk it in case Valve detect it somehow.

I don't know what happens if you start a game on one PC, pull the plug on the net connection and start the other PC. might work, might not. If it worked, then you'd just have to make sure you always pulled the plug as soon as you load it on either PC.

Yea, if thats the case, its utter bullshit. If you buy the game, you should be able to put it on to as many computers you own, without the fear of being ****ed over.

You are just plain wrong. Sorry to say it but if you buy the game and your brother wants to play the game at the same time, then he has to buy the game as well. It's an individual license. Welcome to the wonderful world of software licensing.

Think of it like a console game. You would have to have 2 copies of the game to play it on 2 consoles at the same time right? PC software is no different....What you are trying to do is find a way to break the rules and I'm sure the admins won't appreciate it.

Yup, it sucks.

As I say, though, maybe you can start HL2 on one PC, pull the plug on the net connection as soon as it loads up, and be able to start the HL2 on the other PC and then pull its plug on its net connection as well.

To Steam, it might just look like you start HL2 twice on one PC.

Ok, so is it possible to install it on both computers, but just use the same account and same game CD at different times?

If El_Capitan wanted to run two PCs at the same time just for "testing purposes"... ;)

Then that'd be okay.

Brother? What brother? :smoking:

Game CD? Ah.... that could be a problem. :|

Ok, well just tell me. Can I or can I not install the game on two PCs, and play the game at different times?

You can do it with virtually any other game, so is it possible with this game?

As long as the CD is in the drive and HL2 is used at different times, it sounds like it'll work. I think Steam has to assume the same licensed user is just using it on two machines.

I think you can install it on more than one PC at a time. As long as the game is not being played at the same time on both PC's.....It's one of those little things that everyone does, but with steam it just makes it very difficult.
