Help needed! CnC3 - Trying to join a game

I'm having major issues with Command & Conquer 3 when trying to play online.
I can login and I can play games online and when a game has started, everything runs fine. However, I'm having an issue that occurs 95% of the time:

When trying to join a lobby/game, I get disconnected and or the game shows an empty dialougebox that can't be clicked and I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL myself out of CnC3 because it has freezed (friend of mine has the same issue but his computer hangs completely).

I and my friend is behind a router, so I've tried the following:

- Forward every single damn port mentioned in the manual
- Activating DMZ forwarding to my computer
- Typing in a port in the CnC3 network settings and forwarding that port in my router.
- All of the above at once.

None of these have worked. Why?

Have anyone had this issue and been able to fix it? I would really like some help. This game is awesome when it works properly.

That'll probably happen when you're all using the same key.

Update: It appears the problem is gone if I unplug the router and plug my own computer directly to the internet.

What is it that, via the router, screws up my client?

Issue solved.
I tried activating the router so it would ping back during ping event. That did the trick.
