Help needed to continue

I have arrive at the citadel sequence having been transported I have refreshed energy and suit levels, killed all the soldiers and combines along the catwalk arrived at the second screen with Dr Brean. I can see the next area with the cylinder of light but cannot get to it. The walk thriugh says go into the next chamber whrer the cylinder of light is ..... but how!!

I can't quite put my finger on it where you are... Take a few screenshots of your game (Default : F5) with some recognisable objects on it for others to pinpoint your location. Then you should look in your hl2 folder for a map called 'screenshots'. Take out the ones you took of the citadel just now and upload them to imageshack.us. Each time you uploaded a picture, copy the link and paste it in a text document so you don't lose it. After uploading all images, paste the links in your reply.

Hmmm... If you encounter a cylinder of light, try pressing the 'use' button around it (run a circle around it while pushing it), because last time I've played the game I remember some elevator in one of those cylinders of light.

The problem is I cannot get to the cylinder of light the railings stop me , I can,t jump the way is blocked ny the blue electro fields
