Help please...

OK I got the steam update that was recalled and it totally ****ed up my steam. So I reinstalled took out all the registry and everything went and downloaded the latest steam from their website using the fileplanet mirror now when I try to join a game it just says this:

Preparing to play Counter-Strike...

And does nothing after that. I for one like steam but this is just ridiculous a was able to play perfectly fine a few days ago and now I can't even load CS please help.

Which Steam installer did you use? If you used the 500kb (or whatever) installer, then I had the same problem.

However, after DLing the full cache installer, and reinstalling, my problems went away.

It finally fixed itself, I dunno how but it's working now.

Basically when you uninstalled the program you would have removed all the game files too. Steam would have needed to bring all of these up to date before it launched CS. It's a bit of a pain how it idles on that screen rather than giving you a message saying it's not available.
