But it reads that it is a AMD Athalon 2000+ 1.54 GHZ...

WTF!!!

Thanks for you're help

Go into your bios and what diid you set your FSB to?

Also, what model processor do you have (Barton, Thoroughbred, Thorton)?

You multiplyer is probably wrong. I dont know much bout axp's but check your bios and see what mulitplyer it is set at.

what should the multiplyer be set it?

UGHH IM sooo frustrated with this BS you shoudl just install it and it should be fine why do i have to go threw all this BS :flame:

It depends what your FSB is. Do you have barton? Link us to the exact model of the processor you bought. Just link us to one from newegg so we know which model that will help. Also what mobo you got?

Oh its sooo difficult! Depends on your mobo, check your jumpers make sure they are @ 333mhz..if that doesn't work do what blackeye said.

multiplier should be 11.5. For barton. But i will double check thats just of the top my head.

After looking @ that link, its not a barton, barton's are clocked @ 1.9ghz...my 2600+ was clocked @ 1.9ghz and I am 100% positive its a barton.

Whats the cache size. I think the ones with 512 l2 cache are clocked lower then the ones with less cache.

Well why when i installed it did it say 2000+
I didnt get a 2000+ i got a 2600+ shouldent it say 2600+

The barton's are clocked @ 1.9ghz, normal ones are clocked at 2.13ghz like it says on that site...they need to get there info right...

I got a 2600 and mine is at 2ghz, wierd, but meh.
when you put it in did it say Unknown prosessor type and then after a frew restarts it siad 2000+?

nm what i said bout cache size. Check yor Bios and see what the multiplie is ans the FSB and then post it here. The multiplier should be 11.5.

The question is, do you know how to install a processor?!?!

If the cpu wasnt installed right it wouldnt even boot up. If you dont want to go into your bios download cpu-z and take a screen shot and post it here so we know what multiplier and FSB are at.

Sounds to me like your MoBo jumpers are set to default, where the MoBo won't recognise anything higher than a 2000XP. Maybe you should trying taking it off default if it's on, should let the Motherboard instantly recognise it after youve done that. Check your manual to see what the jumper config should look like.

Sounds like you need a BIOS update. Have you ever flashed your BIOS before??

Basically whats happening here is that your motherboard FSB is set to 133MHz instead of the 166MHz that the barton 2600+ should run on. The Barton 2600+ has a multiplier of 11.5 so 166FSB * 11.5 = 1909MHz which is basically 1.91GHz. If however the barton is running of a motherboard FSB of 133MHz that would mean that the 11.5 multiplier would give a slower speed proccessor. 133FSB * 11.5 = 1530MHz

Incedently Barton cores are great overclockers. I have a Barton 2600+ also which is running at 2357MHz! Considering a 3200+ runs at 2.2GHz i would say thats pretty damn fast (3400+ speeds??)

Go to google and search for CPU-Z. It's a program that will tell you what hardware is in your computer. It should tell you if it's a Barton or not.
