Help please

After downloading the most current update, when i launch cs:s, my screen goes black, with no error message and it doesn't crash, it just stays black. Ive tried changing the resolution and it doesnt seem to do anything. Any advice would be appreciated.

Nforce 2 mobo
768 mb ddr ram
geforce 4 ti4400

Close Steam. rename ClientRegistry.blob to _ClientRegistry.blob and see if that works. (Should create a new one). It's in the Steam folder.

After looking around on the steam forums, the problem could be related to not having Adminstrative rights on your machine. Are you logged in as Administrator?

after looking on steam forums, this seems to be happening to people with nvidia geforce cards, like myself...

right-click the source beta shortcut on your desktop and add -window into the command line; this is only a temporary fix. i'm gonna try it now.
