Help Please?!?

Ok, so i have a seroius problem that is ruining the game for me. there seems to be a problem with the physics on my computer. after i kill something, its body twitches and flops around on the ground endlessly, and does not stop. it will make smacking noises, shoot dust/water up into the air, and completely slow down my computer. i ran the video stress test on CS:S and i got an average speed of 58fps. Also, objects dont stack on each other, and fly around randomly. such as in one of the early levels, where you have to stack the cinder blocks on the seesaw type thing, so you can get up to the ledge. the cinder blocks will just go through it or fly off or something similar to that. Actually, after another run through it today, i had a car just start flying around in circles and off into the sky as though it was inside of a tornado. you cannot tell me that is normal! Ive tried using a different video card, tried cycling my RAM, multiple installs, and even a full reformat. i have no idea what the hell is wrong with this damn game. patches dont do anything so far. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

That's odd to say the least... I have no idea where to start with that... if you've done all you've said to do, it must be something corrupted in the installation... maybe... I don't see how your harware would do that...

NikolaX - read the original post again: i installed the game 4 times, and the system once.

as to the other guys - how would i get an installation thats NOT corrupt? because see i dont want to have to take it back to the store again.... but i dont know if i can download it from steam or not. can you download the same version that the people who bought hl2 through steam have, even if you bought it at the store?

i just wanna play the game without problems :flame:

Valve's website has things to check to see if any HL2 files are corrupted at the bottom of the page here.

Run one at a time.

It says that if there is a problem, then it will download the file by Steam.

ok well i ran those validation checks, and nothing came up saying there was something wrong. does it download as its validating or what?

It is possible that the physics settings got altered in some way.

I have seen minor physics bugs myself with normal physics settings, like a Combine Soldier with a crossbow bolts in him flopping around madly like an electrified fish.

I can alter my physics values from the console. You see the original value as you type in each word.

I don't know what to suggest other than looking and seeing if your values match these. My original values of some things that sound physics-related are:

sv_accelerate 10
sv_airaccelerate 10
sv_backspeed 0.6
sv_bounce 0
sv_friction 4
sv_gravity 600
sv_maxvelocity 3500
sv_rollangle 0
sv_rollspeed 200
sv_stopspeed 100
sv_wateraccelerate 10
sv_waterfriction 1

I just set gravity to 50 a few minutes ago and was bouncing around Ravenholm.
