Hello, i recently received my new computer today. Specs are: Abit IC7-G, Radeon 9800, P4 2.6, 1024 Corsair 3200, 450PSU, etc.

Heres my problem... after connecting everything I get no video on boot. Everything powers up fine, or seems as if though it does, but no video is sent to the Monitor. I get the Black Screen of Death. If anyone can possibly help me I would be most grateful.

Uhm.. do you see a windows error (bsod) or do you see nothing at all? Anyway, take out the videocard and put it back in again and see if it helps...

I dont see anything at all. The screen is just black. Ive taken out the card and even switched it with my old Radeon 8500, same outcome. Could this be my motherboard, CPU, or RAM?

I had that problem last week, had to buy a new motherboard. I'm sure you dont have the same prob as I did. Try switching the power supply to it's lowest voltage..? Um... doublecheck to see if your card is correctly placed into the AGP slot..? Keep us posted.

I double checked the voltages and everything seems to be where it should be. The video card is put all the way in and still no video. Do you think this problem can be solved with a motherboard switch? What other symptoms were you having

No beeps. :(

Weird, your PSU is fine. So, you should have enough power and I guess you double checked the connections from your monitor to your computer.

Is the fan running on the card? Could you install an OS or are you having this problem since the computer came in?

My symptoms were..
NO bios, NO post, NOTHING on screen. Monitor stayed in that idle state. No beeps from PC. Everything looked fine, just no display. My video card still got hot, so did my cpu and ram.
Basically everything completely fine with the exception of the display.

nsx - I had the same problem with the AGP slot in my old P3 board.

As odd as it sounds, try pushing the very back of the AGP card in FIRMLY, sometimes it looks like it's in, but it's not. It should make a distinct clicking sound.

I must've tried 5 or 6 times before I finally noticed that it wasn't COMPLETELY in, but looked 100% in at a glance.

I dunno if that'll help, but it's a possibility, as that's a problem I had, other than that, could it be a bad monitor cable?

have you overclocked anything?
if your image doesnt come on and your monitor says that its not recieving a signal unplug all ur cd/dvd drives and leave only your main harddisk pluged in...

keep chaning over the power supplies until it comes on... then work from their adding one hd or cd drive at a time til they all are working iwth the monitor up...

Yeah the fans start up (CPU fan as well as chipset fan). I dont get any beeps either, just a blank screen. I'll try and push the video card farther back to see if perhaps that is it. Any other suggestions guys? I really appreciate the help :)

The same thing happened to me about 2 months ago....I thought it was my vid card.....turned out i damaged my cpu when i was putting a new fan on.

Check all the pins on your cpu and holes in your cpu socket.

So im guessing you had to get a replacement CPU? Yeah im going to check that out once I have enough patience to look at the computer again! :flame: Keep the suggestions comming guys!

disconnect all your power in your drives and the ide cables and jsut see if you can get it working with oyur main hddisk in! if you can which i think you will! just plug the others in 1 at a time til there all in...

another thing theres a damn good chance it would be... i was at a LAN party wednesday and this guys pc suddenyl stopped working. the monitor wouldnt come on...

so we tried several things then gave him one of our sticsk of memory and low and behold! TA DAAA! it started working..

his memory was fcked...

so try ur memory also :)

Yeah ive pretty much disconnected everything to the point its just my motherboard, cpu, memory and video card. I dont think its my memory because I have 2 sticks of memory and have tried both...unless both memory sticks are dead, but i doubt it ;(. Im thinking it might be more of a processor problem.

I'm tellin ya, same damn thing happend to me, exactly. Sounds like your motherboard to me.

I have two monitors, three video cards, three motherboards, 4 sticks of ram[3x512pc2700/1x256pc2100], 3 hdds, 3 cpu coolers, two cases, two psu's... and more. you can imagine how many times i switched things around til i found out it was my mobo.

So you dont think it could be a dead processor? :| Well hopefully if its just the motherboard I can replace that ...
