Hi, I was wondering how to shoot the two main guns of the game, the M4 and the AK. All too often do I see a guy and have him in between my crosshairs (I'll be crouching, too) and I still miss, even though I'm shooting in one to two shot bursts. Also, when I look at someone against a very light background, it's very hard to see my crosshair. Is there a way to change the crosshair to the opposite of the background you're looking at, or soemthihg like that? I changed it to non-translucent but it's still giving me problems.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Anyone from these boards want to play tonight? Post a server IP of where you'll be playing!

the problem with CSS is the hit boxes when there walking the hitboxes are ahead of them and in 1.6 i think its right on the model

Try cl_interpolate 0 and cl_interp 0.01, that puts the hitboxes right where the models are at. Though if you play on a tickrate 0-66 server it looks a bit like they'd be lagging, its worth it.

I wouldn't do that, the models seem to "skip" when you do that because you are "catching up" with the server. I looks like crap and I can't hit anything with it like that.

Also, to help with your question, I try to pull down on my mouse while bursting to compensate for recoil, it helps my aim a lot.

Yeah this is a very good idea - but to expand on it, what I do to get a lot of headshots is aim for the head and actually start firing while running at the person, but as soon as I press the mouse button down I press crouch too and just let the aim slip down to the torso area. I got accused of hacking a few times from multi-headshots while running, because well usually it's very hard.

Oh, and why this happens? Well I think it's because your aiming reticule doesn't actually start to shrink until the animation for you crouching is complete. So if you fire an crouch, then your accuracy will still be high up until you've crouched fully.

Oh and I didn't get this from any guide, it's what I've learned since playing from the CSS beta.

the hitboxes are identical in source and 1.6

to improve your aim you need to knowa few things
1. your first three shots with the ak are almost perfect after that aim at the torso to get a headshot if your spraying
2. crouching makes the ak a 1 shot kill machine
3 the m4 is equally accurate on the first shot couched and uncrouched
4 the ak recoil is huge - keep pulling your reticle lower as you shoot
5. change the colour of your reticle on different maps - red is best on dark surfaces(chateau), blue or green on light(dust)
6. aim slightly ahead of a moving target
7. use more powerful weapons like the bullpup to teach yourself control

the hitboxes are not the same in source someone made a video about this but the link dosent work anymore and havent u ever noticed while blood comes out before the player as u shoot them

they use the same hitbox detection and spacing ]
the correction for latency is equal in both games as are the hitbox values
people on 56k connections are more than likely the cause of the myth of hitbox problems
its actually easier to hit someone with a clean headshot in source because its so clear

this has been discussed to death before - use the search button or see this excellent explanation http://www.pro-hl.com/column_bomberman_1.shtml
