Help Stuck In The Dark

i've been unable to get any light in the game when i try to adjust the brightness, it just doesnt go up enough. i'm stuck down in the pit in the mines section of ravenholm, when ur in the water. whenever i go down and turn my flashlight on to see, since i can barely see anything even with that on, i just run out of air and can't find a way out due to darkness. now i've already cranked the brightness up as far as it will go (1.6 for me i can't get it all the way and cannot see the words it suggests u adjust it for), on both the game and my moniter. please if anyone knows of a way to brighten things up alot i would be very gratefull.

My computer wasn't good enough to have the flashlight working at its best, but you can still navigate that underwater tunnel without it. I THINK, that theres some planks boarded up under the water you can just make out. Smash 'em. Around there there's also a Barnacle and some goodies. (I, being a idiot, killed the barnacle before I got to the goodies.)
