Help Stuck Validating Half-life 2

I was having a polygon problem at the beginning of the game, so when i saw the validation option I thought id give it a try and see if it fixed that part (i had made it to chapter 13 when i did this). Well now it tries to validate when i run hl2. When it gets 20 percent done it says "steam is to busy right now" or some crap so i cannot play the game to finish it. Is there any way to can cancel this validation thing.

I liked steam before the release of hl2 now i think the whole thing is a big buggy piece of sht. I have had way to many problems with it since release.

It's sad that im forced to download the warez version of the game to finish a game i own because i hit the validate files button on the steam site.

well i got it to validate finally but now it gives me the error game not ready to play try agian later.

Sorry you are going thru this. I had to revalidate as well. I sat in front of my monitor, shaking the big JuJu sitck hoping it owuld get all the way thru. I had to do this 3 times to get it to finish. So far I see no diff in playability. Same stutter and crash. HOpe it goes ok for you.

well even though i cannot play hl2 anymore one good thing came from steam i was having the freeze game and sound loop problem. After checking the steam support stuff they said that sound cards installed below the third pci slot caused problems if you had an integrated sound card. Well for the past 2 years my computer has been freezing, rebooting, even refusing to boot some times. Since removing my soundblaster i have had none of these problems. Still sucks though that i cannot play a game i own and that my computer was running fine because of steam.
