Possibly more clarification as to what your actual problem is? Sentences would be nice...

i let the cd do autorun then i klik on install half life 2 then next next and on the screen where the exe says install steam there i get the message and if i wanna install half life 2 and counter strike: source i get the message to.

my oporation system is XP pentium 4 2.3 ghz 1gb ram graphic card : geforse 4 mx i know old but the game as played with the card.

mayby i can make a screen and mail it to u or somthing ?

My head hurts from reading your grammatically incorrect messages.

Uninstall HL2, CS:S, steam.

Reinstall.

my english is not good i know. i unstalled evrything but i can't install it back can i mail u 2 pics of the problem i have???? or if u have msn add me [email protected]

Ok, so you can't install it back?

Backup all important files, Reformat.

yea right i can't install the game give me ur email and i send u 2 pic of the problem

I'm sorry, I don't give my e-mail to total strangers.

There is something wrong with your OS. A coruppted dll or a file is likely the reason. Try reinstalling Windows.

If there already registered with your steam account.Just get steam and enter your password then they will download.Unless your on 56k. :upstare:

Woah, random statements here...
I'll try and clear this up.

snake : Go to www.imageshack.us and UPLOAD your 2 pics. Every time you upload one, you get a link (like www.imageshack.us.(blablabla) ) . Copy that link and put it in your reply. Do that again with your other pic (Put both links in one reply please)

Alright.

Download Steam here. Restart the computer after you installed Steam, and run the DVD again. If it STILL insists on installing Steam, I don't know what to do. But normally it should skip right to the installation of Half-Life 2 and the problem should have been evaded.

i already did that and iff i want to instal the game i get the message to.

w8 a sec i now need to put in my pw again befor it not so mayby it could solved my problem.
nope i still got it but now i got it when it wants to install half live 2 and counter strike source

can u do the link again becos it dead by me. yea did u find somthing can i have that to ? gonna try

now i installed all of the windoes updates exept sp2 and now when i try to install hl2 off the when i click next to start the instal it will only give me the message "invalid script action, the script action, get windoes installer property, can only be uesed in a script that is executed by wise for windows installer".

Problems with 64bit Steam Install

(I tryed so a search to see if this was already posted, however "64" and "bit" were under 4 letters so the searched failed)

I would just like to bring to attention a problem with the steam installer on Windows 64bit Systems.

As default, 32bit applications, are directed to the
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\Steam\"
Directory, however the installer will not allow the bracket characters in the install path.

Work Around:
- For those with this problem, that would like to keep their Steam install in that folder, simply change the install path to
"C:\Progra~2\Valve\Steam\"

Suggestion:
- Change the install program to allow for these characters. Time to start hopping on the x64 bandwagon.

This might work for 64-bit users who are encountering problems.
