Hello I need some help with my mod, I need a lot more people to join it All I have is 1 mapper and 1 programer. I need anything i can get. You need to have experience and know what you are doing, and have to be good at it. It is a First Person Shooter and Stratergy in one. We do not have a title for it and we just started the mod today.

If you are interested in joining reaply here PM me or email me at [email protected] (Feel free to add me to your MSN list if you have MSN.)

Thanx, Scorpion

there are a lot of teams here competing for a small amount of talented evelopers, you need to give them something more to consider working for your team,

I'd suggest you post a game concept doc and some concept art to catch some interest..

"You need to have experience and know what you are doing"

You need the same.

Im tired of threads like this, sorry for bitching but i really am. Try to look around in other threads to see what i wrote to them.

A article series will come up soon about how you write mods and so on... you might need it.

Well as i said i dont have any info yet i will wright what i have and thats all i have at the moment. I only started this mod yesterday.

Team 1 Human Race: This team is a military team that works together and takes orders from the commander and if a solder disobeys the command that the commander gives him he can punish the solder at will. This team is a rich team that has a lot of funding from the government and has the higher class weapons. This teams special ability is to have two mech suits in each map. Who ever gets to them first can use them.

Team 2 Rebels: This team is a group of rebels also a human race but of lower class. They are ruthless people and don’t give a shit about anything and anyone else but theme selves. They will have the lower class weapons but also strong weapons that can do a lot of damage. If you kill a teammate while he is being used as a shield you will not get punished, but if you kill a teammate for no reason you can get punished. This team has old guns and high powered guns like Rocked Launchers, TNT and other power weapons.

Team 3 Milakin Race: This team an advanced team of power and smarts. This is a new race from a different planet in a different galaxy called Tempis. Their planet is called Milakin and they are called Milikanis. They look the same as humans just born on a different planet. They only care for their own kind and will defend them with everything they got. They have different classes like Solders, Heavy Weapons Guy, and Sniper ect. There is no leader they all just stick as a team and try their best. This team’s special ability is hacking, they can hack into the others team’s bases and make windows of opportunity to get in ect

None of this is final.

Can you tell us some about the features the mod will have? How will the gameplay be like?

The teams looks good, kinda standard.

Well it going to be all 3 against each other. We are going to put special items in the game like bombs, vireses and other things we think of but let the mapper have the freedome to do what ever they want in the map for exaple they can make it so you have to pick up boms from some place and bring them to another place to blow up a building but you need to plant more then 1 bomb to blow it up and u can mix it up with puting 2 things in the map like bombs and viruses or what ever else we put in the mod. About the mechs we are still deciding how that is going to work, alother idea we had for that is the commander can asign someone to use the mechs. you can sneak up behind people you can fist fight and use other people as sheilds. We are thinking of making kinda link a raking sytem, this is kinda how it will work. If you want to be a sniper you can go to the boot camp in the main menu and learn how to be a good one you will get a point for it and the better you become the more ranks you get for a sniper.(but this is not for sure. If you guys like it we can go and think about it more to make it better) I have more ideas but i dont want to give them all away.

that very discouraging,, the mod I'm invovled with, we've been working and planning for 4 months now and are still gonna take another month before we start trying to recruit anyone,,,,

You should have a complete design doc and a homesite before you start recruiting... like Shinobi said.

If it is your idea you need to know exactly what you want or you won't be able to express what you want from your recruits. A bunch of people with different styles working on something that is left up to interpretation will not produce a cohesive atmosphere. Productivity will suffer because they will be more likely to do something that isn't the way you want it and will be forced to waste time starting over. You don't need a web site if you already have a good way to recruit people, communicate with team members, and keep everyone posted on updates/changes. I would recommend that you have a web site for your mod because it makes it look more professional, but it is not a requirement.

1. Have a very clear idea (making a detailed design document helps a great deal) of what you want the mod to be (preferrably something that you think will be fun).
2. Find a good concept artist (if you can't draw) or two to make drawings of all aspects of the mod (work closely with him/her during this process) before you start on the actual development. This will allow you to create an overall style that is consistant throughout the mod (which will help later on).
3. Once you have the style you want, find people that can map/model/skin that style very well. Don't just take "anything [you] can get". You need people that do specifically what you want.
4. Try to keep the team close (not necessarily geographically close) and communicating frequently.
5. Make realistic deadlines but use them more as guidelines. Don't say stuff like "I need a finished map in a week or you're fired". People have lives. There will be problems that get in the way of their work.
6. If the team starts to get bored tried to make an alpha (or something) to show them what has been accomplished, where the mod is going, what still needs to be done, and that the idea is fun.

That brings me to another important point. If you think the mod might be fun to you but you're not confident that other people will like it or you just plain hate the idea... you have two choices (other than just giving up on modding completely): Finish the mod for experience and hope that other people have similar tastes... or scrap it and start on something you think will be fun for everyone. Though, before making a decision like that it is best to consult the entire team to see what they think about it. You might be the only one having doubts.

Ok thanx for all that info i will do what you said. I am making a website it will be up in a few days. (I hope.) and i will make docs of everything i have and in detail and make it as i want and to me to be fun.
Thanx

A good place to learn how to doc is www.gamedev.net go in to the game design doc tutorial section (pretty easy to find) it has tutorials from some of the industries best
