Help wicked cs admin %^&*uxxedored my internet

This cs admin said say good by to your internet in cs and the n did some command it wosnt to my config it was to my actuall internet cuz the next thing i knew i couldnt even go to any websites at all! or connect to steam or anything, now my internet has returned a little but is slow as dog crap does anyone know what command he did or how i can fix this i already tried system restore.

As far as I know, any command an admin uses can't affect anything outside CS or Steam. I could be wrong.

It sounds like they initiated a DDOS attack on your IP, give it some time and see if it goes back to full speed.

If you can't use Steam after your internet comes back to full speed, I can help you with that

One last thing, was the command admin_slowhack? Does that ring a bell?

no it didn't say not command at all, i have seen him say it to other people also then all of a sudden the start getting like a thousand ping and at first i thought he was just screwing with my rates but I was wrong.

Sounds like a packet bomb/ddos attack to me. Give it an hour or two and see if your internet goes back to full speed.

ahh it went back to full speed about 30 after i posted, and he also type for my rate it cs he puts "rate exit" instead of rate 9999

nah i can get on steam everything is fine now but i just was fixing the commands he was screwing with.

no, i posted it cuz after he said that it wouldnt work then it ran slow my internet did, then it returned to speed. So my other question how exactly does this packet/ip/attacker work and can it be executed on any ip?

Ah. Okay. Well, a packet bomb is a series of UDP packets being sent to port 80, if you don't have a firewall, or your firewall sucks, you'll lose connectivity.

If you don't have a firewall, I suggest you get one. Anyone can initiate a packet bomb attack, it's just a matter of having an IP to bomb (which an admin can get of a user on their server).

well when i try it enable windows" fire wall it gives me a message saying fail on dependency server with connection sharing enabled or something liek that.

Type "Zone Alarm" in google.

100x better than windows fire wall.

or buy norton internet security 2003-2004 includes norton antivirus and is better than zone alarm...

zone alarm can cause a few problems...

Zone Alarm CAN cause a few problems, but most are easily fixed with a little bit of tweaking (except for the latest ZAP update that screws HL up all together, I'm staying away from that )

Hmm.. how does thos DDOS attacks works? can i iniate them from DOS or do i need som kind of prog? it would be cool to now so i can test it on my other computer... Anyone now how to proced to make an DDOS attack? would appreciate it....

lesson to all HL players out there.... use a good firewall and more importantly make your config.cfg and autoexec.cfg files read only!
