can someone please tell me how to replace the original Alyx skin with this one
http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/48283

I extracted all the bloody files into my halflife 2 ep1 & ep2 folder but I still see the same damn model.

these instructions make no sense..

How to extract: In the RAR, there should be a "alyxreplace", open it, and there is one more, open that one too, now extract "models" and "materials" to any of your HL2 games (it works for them all, but I wouldn't recommend it in HL2:EP2).

"and there is one more, open that one too" open which one what the f*** are they talking about?

Looks like it has got lost in translation a little bit :p

Try going to this location: C:/Steam/Steamapps/username/half-life2/hl2

I assume inside the weird bit you quoted relates to inside the 'alyxreplace' folder this is another alyx replace folder etc. Keep going till you find some folders like 'models' or 'skins' or something. Put all the folders you find in the location I stated above.

Then get your dick out and get ready to party

I did just that only to find out nothing has changed and I just wasted my ****ing time. God Damn it! WTF!!! I just feel like ripping all the hairs out of my scrotum. I just wanted tp lay a little bit with a sexier Alyx but I guess I'm asking for too much. game doesn't want me to get a boner ..WTF

Ok, calm down. You can get this to work.

You want to put your models folder and materials folder in this folder:

/Steam/Steamapps/username/half-life2/hl2/

So that your two new directories are:

/Steam/Steamapps/username/half-life2/hl2/models
/Steam/Steamapps/username/half-life2/hl2/materials

The reason it's not working for you is because the ZIP includes a directory structure of alyxreplace/alyxreplace/ before the main materials and models folders path.

This is what the instructions were referring to.

If you have a "alyxreplace" folder in your hl2 directory, you did it wrong.

You should extract the contents of this zip folder to somewhere like your desktop. Then go in the folder and grab the "materials" and "models" folders, and put them into your hl2 directory.

Done.

Well I didn't have Half-life 2 installed so I installed it, and did what you said Vegeta897 and it worked. but Alyx still looks the same in both episodes. maybe I messed up the files dicking around with then, So I'll probably reinstall them and see what happens. anyway thanks for the explanation.
