Help with C&C: First Decade (Tiberian Dawn does not start)

I recently purchased C&C: The First Decade. Was hoping to play some Tiberian Dawn... but that's not the case now. :-\

I installed,uninstalled,reinstalled... all that good jazz. Applied patches, uninstalled, no patches. Still nothing.

I'm running on a fairly modern system.
p4 ht 3.0 ghz
1 gb ram
radeon X800
more than enough physical space, etc;etc.

What happens is. I'll prompt TFD to start Command and Conquer. It looks like it's going to load, then nothing happens.
When I open Task Manager, I find that C&C95.exe is running in the Processes, with a mem usage of about 2000k, but the game never loads. This is really depressing guys. :-\

I've tried loading it outside TFD, (the actual .exe) but it prompts me to insert the correct CD; (the TFD DVD is in place)

Red Alert works as does Tiberian Sun.

Any help or suggestions would be great.

Video Drivers? Uh...I am not sure? I always had that problem since it's XP and an old game. But heck....if Red Alert works. \=

I have heard of this problem, believe I read it in a PCGamer mag. Heard that they didnt optimize the older games for XP... and I assume thats what you are running. Do a search for patches for the game, if they didn't realse an official one, I am sure there has to be a fix somewhere out there.

He said Red Alert runs, which wouldn't makes sense if it ran, but the newer one didn't. I think it's something with that one game, but it wouldn't hurt to check things out.

Check the official forums mate, may find some help there

I'm running Windows XP. Not much assistance on the EA forums either, I left a similar thread.

Most odd, though they earlier games have been notorious for being buggy via TFD, still all of us waiting for the 1.3 patch

Hmmm...seems like the same problem I always got when trying to run that game while on XP. Didn't "First Decade" fix that problem, though?
