Help with HL2

Everytime I try to run Half-Life 2 out of steam, I get a warning box that pops up, and says "Steam has found a problem with your local game files. Game files will now be re-acquired from the Steam servers." and when I click Okay, it just pops up two seconds later. What should I do?

Try deleting your SteamClientRegistry.blob (in the main Steam folder) and platform.gcf (in the Steam/Steamapps folder). First exit your Steam (Left-Click on the tray icon and select "Exit") and then make a backup of both files (copy them to another folder in, say, "My Documents"). Now delete both and restart Steam.
