Ok, I have 56k so i have spent a massive amount of time keeping my half life 2 updated so my first question is can the updates be backedup in anyway, i do have plenty of room on an other pc and can be easily accessed by my LAn so hdd space is no issue. My 2nd question is reinstalling HL2 it self, will steam ask for my cd key again? If so wont it say cdkey allready in use?. I asking how because i dont want to stuff something up and be out $130 dollers (AUS).So I ask could someone please give me a quick run down of reinstalling HL2 cause that would be tip top.

Thanks in advanced!!!

It depends why you want to reinstall. If you are getting errors, a backup is not going to work, as the gcf's (HL2's data files) are updated by the updates. So if you backup, and reinstall, the old errors remain.

If you mean you are going to format your entire PC, then use the below

Seeing as you have a Lan, I suggest copying your entire steam directory across to your other PC.

To reinstall HL2 - The first thing is to install steam, load it and log into your account. Then copy your steam directory back to where it was (Over write any files it wants to). Once its in place, restart steam. Under "Avalible games" it should say "Half Life 2". Right click and select install and it should detect the content you moved back and work from there.

I'll give that shot. Plus i'll post again to say if it work or too, just in case someone else looks for the same info..
