Well.. then it was time to upgrade my old computer to:
CPU : 2.6Ghz Celeron PC400.
Mobo : P4SDX
Memory : DDR PC2700 256MB

My old computer has the following specs :

"magenta" Chassi
P2 400Mhz
128mb SDram
10/100mbit network
soundblaster 2.5

My problem is that i dont know what kind of Powersupply the new configuration will need... On the back of the Chassi it says "AC 230V"..
Do you think i would be able to order the new stuff and not sitting later on with the mobo and CPU and discover that the power supply in the Chassi was to weak...

Help is appreciated...

Ack celeron?! you'll run word fine, but gameing will not be so great. a P4 (even a lower speed one) will be mcuh better.

And i'd really reccomend a larger power supply, 230V is quite weak.

Isnt every PSU at 230V? :)
What's the wattage?

I'm from the US so mine is at 115v :-p
450WATTS though...

i sit correct. That what i get for being lazy :p

but yeah, our PSUs are at 115

that voltage rating is standardised..... They are all the same depending on where you live and what power-grid your on. 230v/115v...i believe theres normally a switch on the psu to select either one. 110-120v and 220-230v i believe

all the appliances and electrical items in your house run on that voltage...or they convert it to something else.

the wattage rating is what counts(for the most part)
im going to take a wild guess and say you PSU is rated at 250watts or lower(most likley lower).....not adequate for a current rig.

sp what should i do?? Buy a new chassi for the parts ?

You don't need to buy a new case (chassis) all you need to buy is a new powersupply although depending on where you buy, the powersupply may cost about the same as getting a new case, so i would first look at the cases in a decent price range and if you do decide to keep your current one, just buy a new powersupply and connect it to your current case/motherboard.

Look for one no less than 280 - 300 WATTS.

okay... now ive looked over an PSU and a nwe chassi... i think that ill buy the chassi because its even chepaer and easier to handle than to buy a new PSU to connect to my old chassi...

Thanks guys!

You could better than that rig. The celeron is pretty bad.

Try a

Abit nforce2 motherboard

2500+ barton

512(2*3200) DDR

400watt antec power supply.

You current supply might work if its a good quality one. You might find as soon as you fire up your new system you hear a loud bang. Hence your PSU will be dead. For a P2 system they would use about a 150-200 Watt PSU.
