i apologise before hand if this isnt the right place for this, it just no one seems to read the servers and administrator section.

ive been having problems with my half life games with the graphics (everything was good, just the out lines of objects were pixelated) but found out it was because my resolution was set all wrong. so i sorted that out no problem(looks great now), but since doing so the game play within my games has become very un-smooth. its like when your running evrything seems jerky if that makes sence? and in battle it skips and jerks to the point where you cant even aim a gun properly. id be very grateful if anyone can help beacause it makes the gameplay......well its just not worth playing in that state. please help me.

ATI Radeon 9550/X1050 series, if you need more info let me know.

This forum is more appropriate.

You seem to be fairly limited in your knowledge with regard to how games work on the PC. You have complete control over your settings, and the higher you put them, including your resolution the more work your PC needs to do to make it look that good.

Your specs are OK to run HL2, but not fantastic, you should expect to run the game on fairly low or maybe medium settings. What resolution have you set the game to at the moment?

Your computer generates many 'frames per second' which give you a moving image. To do this fast enough your computer needs to keep up with this. At the moment you frames per second are low which gives that un-smooth jarring you see.

Firstly check to see if you have your latest drivers installed for your graphics card - http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.HTML

If this doesn't help, can you turn down the settings any lower?

ive got it set to fit my monitors resolution, 1440x900 and the ratio is widescreen 16:10.

thank you for the tips. my graphics card is up to date but still the same problem. maybe my computers to slow but if you had any more tips wich could help i would like to hear them.

On the same window where the resolution settings were, there are a number of other settings that may have this affect on the way the game looks. The options are often, 'low', 'medium', and 'high', although some of them have other variables. What are these set to?

im playing the half life 2 series. im pretty sure now its my processor and computer being to slow.(my computers like 3 to 4 years old i think) i was gonna get a new processor preferably a 3.6 ghz but some one mentioned to me it would probly be best to look into getting a newer computer altogether. cheers for help tho.

...so I gotta ask, if you're truly an Internet forum virgin, what you think of these entities (and I'd like to say that I'm a little flattered that you chose this one out of the legions of forums available).
