This is my friends description of his problem:

OK Herp here please, Now after this CSS patch that added prodigy and other good stuff, i cant connect to any server, when the server is loading on the part "retrieving server info" my game makes the windows error noise and crashes, no error comes up just the game crashes, if anyhelp could be givin it will be greatly appreciated.

Kinda weird. Anyone know what the problem could be? so far we have redownloaded CS:S, validated CS:S files, deleted config.cfg, and deleted ClientRegistry.blob, none of which have fixed the problem

does a error message apear? if so waht does it say...i say what everyone say...update your drivers

we have updated his video drivers and audio drivers. Could it possibly be the problem is caused by on board graphics?

Uninstall CS:S and HL2 (BACKUP any saved games first!), totally uninstall steam from the system, and reinstall it.
