HELP_stuck at route kanal

Got to level where helicopter keeps firing and cant find a way to escape, looking through the forums for assistance people keep mentioning an air boat, what are they? and where can you find one?
I have got to the level without one of these things and now cannot progress-please help required :bounce:

You get the airboat just after the bit with the headcrabs coming out of the rockets everywhere (and before a wide open area with toxic sludge and a gate you open). The airboat is a small vehicle with a pair of floats and a big propellor at the back.

Quite a few people have not got the airboat then run into the helicopter. The helicopter is too dangerous to get any further without the airboat.

You can get the airboat by reloading an earlier savegame, restarting the level or using a map cheat code.

You will come to a place later with a ramp, where ypu have to have the airboat. The airbout was in the very end of the last chapter, but you shouldn't be able to start the new level without bout.

Actually i have come across 3 spots where passage without an airboat would be impossible.

I'm at the point now where they added a gun to the boat ... that is some awesome fire power. :sniper:
