Running Windows XP - Getting an error on start up that says - "LSA Shell (Export Version) encountered a problem and needs to close." Then the PC shuts down...

I googled it and I'm seeing that it may be related to the sasser virus but some people just say SVP2 fixes the problem.

Any one experience this b4 or have any ideas how to fix this?

I think that it is sasser related, well the majority of the posts on other forums that I searched in google said that it was. I would goto the norton site and download the sasser removal tool. And also update and scan your whole pc with a virus scanner.

xLostx I always get this if I reformat and don't add my firewall (ZoneAlarm).

I will be in XP for about 20 seconds and it'll warn that Windows has to shut down.

I now reformat, and put ZoneAlarm on before ever going on the internet. It's as if it's waiting for me to log on without any protection and then BAM, shut down time.

I would recommend backing up, reformatting to get rid of it completely and using a firewall if you do not already; hope this helps.

I read that once it detects an internet connection it will just give that error because of the sasser worm but firewalls will block access to it and allow the PC to run fine. Gunna try the Stinger removal tool and see if that picks up anything. Ppl on other forums said they reformatted like 5 times and still got this, could it be possible for the worm to hide in the RAM?

Haha, no.

When you shut down your pc, your ram gets cleaned out, cause it is no longer recieving power.

There's a good chance that it reflashes your bios to a corrupt version with IT in it.
