how come whenever i create something that looks good and im proud of, my lump of excreetment of a computer goes and finds a way to destroy it?
right, my problem is envolving displacements. somehow i managed to spend three years of mapping without realising they existed. When i did it was fluffin amazin. I created a pretty kinky map with little cliffs on the edge, loaded it up, full of exitment. And then my computer completely failed to create a DXL file for it. I got that little message telling me the computer can't find the file and if i want to continue.
so, then i experimented to find out what might be causing the problem. Tried just loading up an uber simple map, skybox light and player_start ext. It worked 'whoopie!'. Right, so add a displacement, a simple floor. It worked 'Whoopie!'. Ok, so add some cliffs. oh, doesnt like that, fails to make DXL. Ok, delete a cliff. Nope. another one, nope. my god, another one, nope. Ok all cliffs deleted. Oh, it works... so i can get a rare total of 1 displacement in my map.
so i try grouping all the displacements together... nope. Ok, try showing the computer that it can load up more than one displacement at a time, i load up an allready made SDK map with displacements. Woot it works.. although of course my computer crashes five seconds in because it is, as previousally stated, the excreetment of the commen bull. BUT, we had it, it worked.
now hopefully... no. OK... err... well... lets just put this printer through the screen... ok... that didn't help.
ok, well.. at least i feel better.
