With as much as I have disdain for the French, I don't think the article was going for that. I do think it was going for sensationalism though.

It's just like that article I linked to in off topic claiming "PENTAGON FUNDING WITCHCRAFT LESSONS" and it turned out to be the play Macbeth starting to play in many US Military bases funded by the government. Sensational journalism hoping to grab readers.
