Hey, just wanted to introduce myself here. I'm not new to the whole FPS thing, but I'm new to the whole HL2 thing. Since I didn't play HL1, can anyone explain the importance of G-Man and what role he plays?

Nobody knows who the G-Man is. He just seems to follow you around the Black Mesa facility (Where you are in HL1) and when you finish they game he asks you to come work for him (or someone). If you don't, you die. Whatever you choose, there is a Half-Life 2, so you obviously got hired.
