whenever me an my dad try to install hl2 it says the account is not an administrator even though the account has full administrator.

hmm y would windows say that even if he didnt have full admin. he could still install hl2 unless it was installed on anothor windows account

You should log in into an account with full admin.
If you don't have any other accounts, do this :
Restart the computer.
Keep pressing F8 while it boots.
You'll get a selection menu. Select "Boot in safe mode"
Let it boot (Weird stuff might come up on the screen)
Normally, you should get a new account, probably called 'administrator' or 'admin'. Log in. If it asks for a password, try 'administrator' or 'admin' or simply nothing or a space. Also try using full caps or simply a capital letter (eg : Admin, Administrator)

Well, just log in as administrator and make yourself a new account (options can be found in 'control panel' under 'users' (or something like that))
