This part was the best.

IGN: Speaking of Metal Gear Solid 4, although we haven't seen a lot about it yet, how has the response been?

Hideo Kojima:
Well, actually, we showed the trailer to the Konami employees before E3 and it was not very popular, so I was really kind of upset. After E3 and after we showed the US and the world audience, it made me happy because they had high anticipation from that teaser. Also, we revealed the concepts, and the response was good from all over the world.

At Tokyo Game Show, we actually plan to show not only a teaser, but something from PS3.

YES!

No wonder the trailer wasn't really popular with Konami employees, i mean 3 quarters of it is all about him and barely related to MGS 4.

Yeah. His games might be nice but that guy is such a sucky.

Of course the teaser was alot about Kojima, the guy kept saying "Nah! MGS3 will be my last game". It's big news that Kojima is still kicking it at Konami.

Also, it's obvious that Konami Employees dont dislike Kojima, since they gave him a huge chunk of Konami.

Does anyone else detect an air of arrogance or an inflated ego surrounding Kojima?

It's not there when I see/hear/read stuff about people like Shigeru Miyamoto, Gabe Newell, John Carmack, Tim Sweeney, Will Wright, etc... but I keep getting that impression about Hideo Kojima.

It might just be me.

If he sells a lot of units you let him do what he wants. You don't kill your considerably colossal cash cow just because it has a curiously cutting crossness. That would be silly... and alliterative.

I get that too. He's the only person in the gaming industry that really seems to have that air about him. Except maybe, Derek Smart. And George Broussard or however you spell it.

Peter Molyneux also has a somewhat similar problem but I think his is more a delusion of grandeur in his estimates of what the game is going to be able to do rather than an ego problem... but I think that's more humourous than off-putting... like he's that crazy uncle at every family reunion. "Yeah, that's nice, Peter... I'm sure Fable is going to be the greatest RPG ever made." :upstare:

maybe coz koj deserves it :dork:

anyway, good interview, why gamecube ign though?

There are sexy magazines. There are cardboard boxes
lol...:naughty:

Hideo Kojima: Everybody will probably pursuit to make everything more realistic in terms of graphics and sound with the next-generation hardware, but what I want to do is something a little different. I want to do something a little bit different: to make it a little more natural with a natural flow when creating a world. Not just upgrading graphically. I'm looking forward to the new hardware to make that.

good....

Hideo has every right to be an arrogant bastard, he's a ****ing genius. His games have great gameplay, and a story and atmosphere that lift i well above any other game or movie. But to me he doesn't look arrogant, he almost always looks angry, thats another thing I love about him.

I'd expect that from someone with the name "Grey Fox"

What???, sorry but the Arrogant Bastard award of the videogame industry has been taken long ago by Tomunobu Itakagi, that my friend is the real one...

Every gaming show, I always look forward to what Hideo brings out, his games and trailers are just awesome.

Well said!

An MGS4 trailer at TGS... Then it's TGS > E3 2005 imo :)

Personally, I hate when people say something, and than don't do it. Like Kojima said MGS3 was his last MGS, yet he goes on and makes a 4th. I understand it makes a ton of money, and is pretty critically acclaimed, but when you say something to the public, don't take it back. That's like Michael Jordan retiring, than coming back.

Kojima did also say MGS2 was his last MGS, lol, he'll prolly say MGS4 is his last MGS too.:)
