Hiya I hope somebody will be able to help but firstly sorry if this has already been answered but i've searched and can't find anything useful either here or on the internet. Mainly becasue I dont understand it :dozey:
Im getting high pings in CS:S usually between 300-600. The lowest i've managed to get it was 250 by ending loads of processes and and all applications. Im on a 512/256 dsl connection, behind a netgear dg834 router. Ive done a speed test and I get around 450 kbps (from the speed test on plus.net- my isp) which it tells me is only slightly below average for my connection. I've also opened up the ports for steam to use which i found from another post.
I used to play call of duty alot and would get a ping of under 100 all the time so i am confused about why its now so high.
So, what ways are there for me to reduce my ping. If possible could you try to explain in a simple way as im a self confessed CS noob!
Thanks for any help because I want to be able to play CS:S without spoiling it for anyone unfortunate enough to be on the same server as me!
Cheers James
