Recently I've upgraded my connection speed with my ISP. I had 256kb/s, now I've got 512kb/s. While browsing the net everything's fine, speeds went from over 32kB/s max to over 64kB/s max while downloading (slow, I know but let's not go offtopic).

However it looks like my pings have gone up. I had 70-80 ping on the BF2 server I usually play on, now it's 120-130.

Pinging a website which I can access fine through the browser results in a timeout.

What's going on? What may be the cause?

It could be when you upgraded the line, they patched you through a different network (internally). All the 512kb/s lines together and the 256kb/s lines together. IDK
You didn't notice any of this before on your 256kb/s line?

64KB/s is great for that connection. 512Kbits / 8 (bits per byte) = 64 KBytes per second
It's full speed.

Yep, I know, I was just saying it's slow compared to what most people have here.

Actually a few minutes after posting my ping was normal so I dunno, will have to see how it behaves and contact the ISP if it goes back up. Thx for replying.
