Who doesn't love history? Ask a question that deals with historical events/people/places/inventions/etc. and get an answer...hopefully.
This thread was totally inspired by Ikerous' math thread.

What was the name of the experimental rocket powered plane Germany was developing during World War II?

I love history. Very fascinated with all countries, from the ancient time of the greeks and romans... the middle ages, world war II...

Never was much into the classical eras, or as much modern day stuff.

What Rock band's assasination started World War 1?

Correct! We didn't even win the bloody war of independace(which wouldn't have counted because we were part of Britian during that war)

Who won the War of the Roses?

There were pinks? Now I'm confused.

The tudors won the war of the roses, seeing as Henry Tudor became Henry VII. His family were the ones represented by the red roses.

ok guys, this was my A level history project question:

"How significant was Gaius Julius Caesar in the downfall of the Roman Republic?"

Ok, how about this:
What was Hitler's true hair color? Was it...

A. brown
B. black
C. blonde
or
D. none of the above?

The answer is: D! Hitler's true hair color was, in fact, anti-semitic.

The answer is 'D}:'

To what extent do you think that Martin Luther King was essential to the civil rights movement? Was he the key initiator and organiser, the central figure? Or was he merely an icon, a figurehead?

He was a figurehead but also very good at delegating. the success of the civil rights movement rests partly on the rhetoric of king and other figureheads and also the well organised, functional grass roots of the campaign.

What were the main causes of the March/February Revolution that ended Tzarist Russia? How had the situation changed in order to bring about the later Bolshevik Revolution?

wasn't the final revolt that brought down the tsar in november? i did this about 4 years ago so i may be wrong. i remember that many were disgruntled by the lack of success in the war tho and a feeling that the tsar was doing nothing to help the country.

Were the members of the July 20th Bomb Plot moral or self-interested in their actions?

That was my coursework question on Nazi Germany, nearly 6000 words later and i concluded........bit of both

During WWII, a Norwegian partisan sunk a certain ship.
What ship was it and what was it carrying?

It was the USS Leiderhosen and it was carrying Short Recoil to his boxing match with Hitler. Unfortunately, it sank. Thankfully, Short Recoil managed to fly out of it just in time, and kicked the shit out of Hitler. Hitler took it out on the homosexuals, gypsies, and "special" people.

heh, always good to sit on the fence... gets a bit boring after 10 or more essays tho :P

I'd say that it was entirely selfish, partly because they had so much to gain from it and even the bomb planter didn't see the plot through, he tried to get away, if he was moral he'd have made sure it went off and killed hitler. You can also argue that there is no such thing as altruism(selflessness) so all their actions were self interested.

On the same note, the aftermath of that bomb plot was just :|. hung up on meathooks by their stomachs and video taped for hitler to watch later... :/

Heres a question:

To what extent is it justifiable to say that without proto-industry, Britian would not have experienced such rapid industrial change in the years 1780 - 1830?

That's my essay question at the moment.. gotta love degree-level History (In the UK :D )
