Hit boxes... even now?

I don't think that's accurate, my bro aimed in between a guy's legs with the Magnum and missed. So...
 
I hope the hitboxes won't be a big problem in css....

btw, i think your sig is a bit larger than 4 lines B.Calhoun.....it's cool though...

Valve have never indicated that there would be per poly hit detection. It is however supposed to be a much improved on hit box system.

I do not believe, having played the beta myself, that that screenshot is an accurate representation of the new hitboxes. You'd notice if the hit boxes were THAT messed up.

dude, i dont think those are really correct hitboxes, if css was really that crap, y would people say it has perfect aim? i plkayed it, and i didnt notice ne thing
 
Who cares about this, it'll probably be improved. Just send it in on the in-game report tool...

Well, the hitboxes might be faked, but we can try the sc_cheats 1 and hit box on option to test it...
I'll do it sometime later at the cybercenter.

The bullets not registering was partially an issue of hitboxes... and they can be very wierd at given moments...
 
of course, that might not even be hitboxes, it might be simply a render of the sections of the skeletal system used to make animations.
 
I believe that this is the ragdolls collision hull, not the hit boxes, or indeed animation, ive seen some shots of hl2 models hitboxes, and theres alot more than that going into a charecter.

Crap, that thread on steam forums won't open anymore.. the rest are working fine. Just that one... database error... so it says
Steampowered is crapping out again.

I say its time for the preload to start. The forums at steampowered always go nuts when they have patches etc up
 
sv_cheats 1 and cl_showhitboxes 1 and put 3rd person on..

How do you put 3rd person on?
 
The command cl_showhitboxes doesn't exist in CS:S...I just tested it.

sv_cheats 1
cl_showhitboxes (this doesn't show up)

"showhitlocation" doesn't work either. (the command is there...but it doesn't work)

I just mentioned that on the steam forums thread... Hopefully it will stop the people going crazy. As it is, some of them are frothing at the mouths because the preload hasn't started.

Haters abound... and yet they will all play the game... while continuing to whine about it.

I guess we can wait till the BETA is out for us CZ users.
I really don't mind.. I got used the hitboxes in CS 1.5 and 1.6... I'm sure we can handle this.

Well, at least the boxes cover the whole body now. I just wish there were more hitboxes with a borader range of damage, or per-pixel detection.

Sub, those look much better. The ones he posted just looked messed up.
I'm not worried much.. cuz I played the game.. and on decent connections and lans... I did pretty well with strafing deagle head shots.
 
Yeah, it's not as bad as first thought, could be improved though.

a word on hitboxes, from march:

summary: hitboxes are apparently not restricted to rectangular form, and can be made as accurate as developers feel neccisary (but are not intrinsically per-polygon accurate).

so i think that if the cs crew feel theres enough demand for more accurate hit detection systems, we'll probably get it.
 
Also, this could very well be temporary...so I wouldn't worry about it.
 
these pictures of hitboxes are not true.
i have a movie in where the player is testing hitboxes on another player and the bullets go where they are meant to.
 
The reason they are the boxes, is because squares are thought to be boxes, not circles.
