Another reason why I like the HL franchise is that there are ways to modify the game. So what is IO's problem with not releasing a level editor for Hitman 1/2/3?

These really is a limited amount of ideas for playing a hitman in a game. How many hits and assiniations before the audience gets sick of playing the role? There really is no personal relationship between the hitman and his target so the designer has to either invent a thin connection or have none at all. In either case a deep story is lost or never attempted at all.

Is it because of lost revenues? Fans creating their own content for that game would deffinitly be an incentive to buy the game.

Are the developers worried about compitition from their own fans? If that is the case then that's pretty sad. But if its not then it can only help to make the next game that much better.

So am I saying that there is an end to the 'Hitman:XXXXX' series? Sure. All good things must come to an end. But I would prefer a level editor during the height of the journey instead of at the end or never at all.

Stop worring about whether modification of the game will hurt the bottom line and start concentrating on giving a better value to the customers that your are trying to please. Releasing a map editor could be the best thing that ever happened to IO.

I decided to post this rant after reading an interview.

In it a question was raised about whether a level editor or a multiplayer mode would be implimented.
he dodged the editor question entirly and softballed the possibility that their intentions really were to add more replayability to the game.
