Rating 6/10: "Enjoyable"
They tried to make Agent 47 too "human;" which completely contradicts everything you know about the Hitman series. In the movie, Agent 47 had no class, no mystery, no subtlety, and he was certainly too sloppy. They lost a huge portion of the Hitman style/story; the elements I really liked about the Hitman series. Even if you disregard it's inaccuracy, the movie would have been so much better as a movie if they used the Hitman style.

If you forget the Hitman style and story, and have no expectations, you'll enjoy it as an action flick.

It was enjoyable as an action movie, but they got a lot of the stuff from the video game wrong, like how they made 47 an orphan/runaway instead of a clone of many different men. Also, far too sloppy to be a professional killer. Also, they should have had the same person do Diana's voice in the movie as they did in the games.

5/10, needed more Hitman-ness

I never played the games but the movie was kinda meh.

I mean, they had good hand-to-hand stuff, although the camera was too shaky, but they at least had good sound effects and people stayed down when you hit them.

A lot of the stuff was just silly though, like sniping from 4 kilometers away? I mean I'm no sniper, but I thought I remember on future weapons the guy said the longest confirmed kill was either 1 mile or 1.5 miles.

Either way, I liked that in one scene he had the walther sniper rifle out, that's such a cool weapon:

The minute i saw the trailer i said "NOPE! this movie is awful" i said that because they didn't cast Jason Staton (not sure on the name spelling) as 41. If they did the movie would have been really cool, but they didnt so its a failure.:flame::flame::flame::flame::flame::flame:

I saw it. I didn't want to, but my friends did so I went along with them. It's okay. However I think Transporter 2 was a lot more enjoyable. I don't think Jason what's his face would be great as Agent 47. I personally think they should of got an unknown tough looking actor that is bald. He wouldn't need too much acting experience because Agent 47 usually doesn't say too much. Timothy Olyphant wasn't a bad choice, but I think someone else could of been much better. Overall the film is not very memorable.

4/10

You fail. Jason Statham as 47. ><

thank you, what is with people and this Statham guy for 47? He sucks.

I saw the trailer while watching T.V lastnight, god it was embarassing, i almost facepalmed.

Doesn't look that bad to me, but then again I don't really like the Hitman games.

Ebert is a ****ing idiot, and his opinion a steaming pile of horse manure.

It was a terrible film. The writing was god awful. Whenever they gave 47 a one liner or incredibly stupid monologue to spit out I literally squirmed in my seat.

I find it funny than in Ebert's review he refers to the more ridiculous action sequences and over the top stunts as what must have come from the videogame, which in fact are some of the biggest departures. He even praises the films characters and themes, which are just incredibly watered down versions of the nuanced and subtle game counterparts.

I'm not claiming that the game was some kind of storytelling masterpiece, but it conveyed what little there was quite competently, something that the movie completely missed. The only part that really felt like it belonged to the Hitman franchise was the opening credits sequence, which was also the best part of the movie.

Ebert sucks.

So does the Hitman movie, apparently. Won't be seeing it.

I don't know why you guys are so harsh on this movie.

I just finished watching it and I was entertained throughout most of it.
Truth be told, I was not expecting much from it but it did OK. They had to hollywoodize it in order to sell it to the masses, you should know that.

Parts of the movie were definite nods to the game. The girls playing hitman in the hotel room, the disguises (way to few in the movie, it's too bad), the anesthetic, and the coin drop.

On a side note... Why, when it is perfectly obvious who a disguised character is does he always take off his hate/mask as soon as the coast is clear? Is it because they think we're too dumb to figure out that it wasn't 47 that just blew away the president's body guard? Or the only train baggage handler with a bar code on his head, that couldn't be 47 could it?

I don't why they bother with video game based movies.
They are only tarnishing the overall image of video games and are pissing off millions of gamers along with it.
The fact is,that none of these directors and producers have any ****ing clue nor do they bother researching any of the material of these games.
They take the concept and butcher every ****ing bit of it.
It's one of the reasons why video games are not going to be accepted as an art form for a long time. The general public perceives it nothing more then mindless entertainment.

I think he was reffering to the incorrect spelling of Statham's name and the spelling of (oh the irony) 47. Jason Statham is a god.

Seen it. It sucked so badly. They've ruined hitman.

I kind of want to go back to Hitman 3 to erase the bastardization of the Hitman name by this movie. :(

Yeah, I made the mistake of going to see this movie with my boyfriend after reading Ebert's review. The only thing that was marginally tolerable about the movie was color of his tie. Nice shade of red.

I promised my brother i'd go see this with him tomorrow..... ftl:(

yeah i understood that, but i was referring to the whole 'Statham for 47' that alot of people suggest, no just no.

Jason Statham would be great for 47, as long as he doesn't play his "Transporter" role. I think he's fully capable of playing Hitman as intended.

Just saw it, it was meh, only one scene that was from the game. "Bathroom scene"

Are you kidding me? Resident Evil: Apocalypse was awesome, Silent Hill was even more awesome. They have to change them to enable it to work on film.
You might as well say they shouldnt turn books into films either.

They didnt incorporate enough from the game imo.

Was ok. Bit confusing.

Thought he did an ok job portraying 47.

Got to say I thought hitman, silent hill and especially resident evil all sucked. And yes I don't think they should adapt books considering 99/100 times they're worse.

I liked Silent Hill a lot. I also liked the first Resident Evil (the second two are on my worst movies ever list), and I thought Hitman was alright.

Well, what do i say to someone who enjoys crappy movies such as those?

Yes, eberts review is incredibly ironic.

Everything he hates about the movie he blames on the game's video game origins when in fact none of that is in the video game. The game was all about stealth, disguise and clever ways of killing, not about running and gunning.

I thought hitman was pretty OK, i'd give it 6.5/10 - I was expecting a 2/10, since a lot of reviews have been totally slating it - though I found it entertaining.

The best part of the movie was that he actually walked the same as he did in the game. I think he did, anyway. But that aside, it was pretty weak. I mean even as a explosive no brainer it failed to entertain me. Remember that xXx film with Vin Diesel? It was pretty much that, complete with around-the-world locales, ''hot babes'', cars, explosions and one liners.

I now know why it seemed bland...Vin Diesel was a Producer on it :|

Was enjoyable in some parts, bathroom scene was very cool.

Any parts with the girl though made me cringe, were so out of place :@

4/10

I'll give it a 7/10. The character differed too much from 47 from the game and there were the cliche shootouts (main character intact). Also the trainstation sword/sabre fight was liek wtf. Do all the assasins always carry two blades on them? Other than that it was OK, I don't want my money back.

was she hot atleast?

If she changed her makeup (or got rid of it) and hairstyle she would be quite hot ;)
