Hey everyone. Glad teh be here
Wut's up?
And exaclty what expression/feeling is this thing: :imu: suppose to be displaying. I can't for the life of me figure out what possible purpose it could serve besides looking slightly like a bunny and a marshmellow and waving its ear?
Anyways...
A little about myself:
I'm 18. Going to college soon. I'm hoping to go into computer science, or at least if I change my mind, I still want to learn how to code. I've mapped for hl1 for about 4 years. By four years, I mean I tried to map four years ago, and still do every once and a while. Experience wise, I could say I have maybe one year of experience. Most recently I have been making custom maps for a hl1 rpg mod, with which I have become addicted. Everyone who has played them say they thoroughly enjoyed them selves (more or less in some cases). I have often been accused of having an amazing imagination, though I do not like to brag. Very recently, I have begun the transition from hl1 to hl2 mapping. I love the amount of detail I can put into things, but I am just learning how things work, and doubt I will be able to make anything of decent quality any time soon.
I've tried my hand at modelling (3dsmax) and found that I lacked to patience to make anything better then a really crappy uzi and ak, learn to skin, or learn to animate. I have a sneaking suspision I would be an excellent animator, but I doubt that will become any more then a suspision unless I find a need for it aside from just exploring a hunch.
Also, I am trying to learn my way around photoshop and paint shop pro. I would REALLY like to be able to create awsome digital art, and eventually flash animation.
Here is my first attempt:

I can easily picture exaclty what i want, but lack the know-how to make my vision real, so instead I end up messing around with random stuff. I'm reading tutorials, but I havent really had alot of time to explore this lately.
I love rpg's and fps. I'm strictly a PC guy, consoles just arn't my thing, with few exceptions including all button mashers (I seem to have a strange nack for those, which I assume is just dumb luck, obivously), mario cart 64 and double dash.
The first rpg I ever played was diablo 2(and the expantion when it came out). My most glorious achievement was my 95 magic find fire wall sorcerer. Around the time hacked-in contricting rings came out (ring that gave 100 mf each, but had a level requirement of 95) my sorcerer was 89. I was forced to spend countless nights playing the cow level over and over and over in order to get up to 95. Once I did, my total magic find was over 1000. Those of you that know diablo 2 can vouch that at that time that was just about the most you can get without outside programs. I had the best magic find items out there, and was damn proud of it. *sigh* those where the days. Personally i think the 1.10 patch screwed up alot of things, one of which is the lowering of magic find on a certain boss named mephisto, from who I got all my lovely unique items. After the patch, I watched things slowly go to hell around me, and decieded i had had enough. By that I mean that I could never get rich enough to get those new super rune words, and the fact that fireball was the new most powerfull spell, redering my lovely sorcerer useless, and couldnt deal with it
Next I was introduced to Everquest (Evercrack ). My new rpg obsession. About the same time I started playing half-life and not too soon after, cs. I loved eq to death, but didn't have the time require to get anywhere of significance. I watched helplessly as my friends, who had much more free time then i did, grow and gain levels and go off and in general have alot of fun without me. I highest i ever got was a 22 monk. So i quit, and devoted what little computer time i had to cs. Though, agian, I don't like to brag, I got really damn good at it. I was almost alyways at the top of every server. Then after a long time, my cousin said he was quitting eq and said i could have his account as long as i payed for it. So i said hell yea, and got an accound with a 40 warrior, 32 beastlord, and 59 magician. A high level character i had, but experience i did not, and plus i had skipped a few expasions since i left off, and had little knowladge of the new content. I spent months trying to get the epic, but got bored, and once agian quit. Then steam came out, and i got back into cs (and still play it every now and then, though im not as sharp as i use to be.) then i started exploring the world of hl1 mods. I found an fantasy rpg which i fell in love with. Something about a hl rpg just struck me as the coolest thing since television of sliced bread or something. I went on to make maps for it and stuff, and patiently wait the new release. Also sometime after steam came out i bought hl2 and beat it in a weekend. It was lovely. Can't wait for some good mods. A few weeks ago i tried giuldwars and didnt like it. So now im just trying to learn various things.
Ahem. Sorry for the life story. Just curious if anyone can relate :upstare:
That is, if you bothered to read this whole thing...
