Just curious Although I've played through hl1 many times at least it would be refreshing to play Hl source before hl2. Seriously with HL2 coninbg out who will play an outdated game with just physics and water effects changed? Not to bash it but after seeing Hl2 in it''s glory (Through bink videos) I don't think i'll play Hl source without a total rehash with Hl2 graphics.

release Hl source early then?

They wont, but It would be gr8, personally Ive never played Half Life, just the mods and addons

i think less than 10% of th ppl who play HL2 will go back to play HL:S all th way through. probs only 50% of ppl who play HL2 will even TRY HL:S..

I know alot of CS ppl who think HL " ist teh sUx0r" even though they've never tried it! :( shame.

I bought HL Generations and played everything but Half Life for some reason, ive even played Gunman Chronicles ffs and hundreds of mods

Half Life: Source for me is a whole new game, that I cant w8 to try :D

Id be cool if they released it the day before HL2 over steam:) just to get people pumped.

i sure as hell hope they do... is it possible that they would release it AFTER HL2 is released? that would be hell. as it is, i'm planning on p[layign through hl:s first, before even looking at hl2. it'll be hard enough to do that when hl2 is unlocked and ready to go, tempting me. what would be even worse is if hl2 was ready to go, but i had to wait for hl:s to be released still. i probably would give in then.

Quote From Valve:

It's a mix of both. It wasn't worth redoing everything in the game, but some things have been redone. Monsters & NPCs are all ragdoll enabled, physics "works", water is the nice pretty water of Source, bullet hit fx, metal has specularity (glossy and reflective), etc. To TOTALLY remake HL1 would have both ruined it (it wasn't designed for the engine) and meant a lot of time and effort would have had to be put into it. Physics is there when it can or needs to be. Like remember that place where all those boxes are hanging from cables, and you have to hop box to box? Well now...

Is it worth it? Yea, it is. I was one of the people who worked on it (the maps) and I totally enjoyed playing through it again and again in the port. It's still a fantastic story and game, now it's just even better.

they should release it a week or so before HL2, give us chance to play through, admire the new look and refresh the story in our minds. I know there's always the original non source version I could play through, but I don't have time to play it again twice.

It would certainly encourage people to buy silver or gold rather than the bronze package. However, i doubt they will bother :/

I have already purchased HL:S so I will play it no matter when it gets released. But as you say, an early release would be nice, to freshen up the Half-Life world knowledge.

It will be realeased the same day. Now let's see who has the psyche to play hl:s once pefore touching hl2... I know I won't...:)

I've only played HL: Uplink Demo (total shit, as quoted by many). So...I SHOULD play HL: Source before HL2, but I know I won't. I'll end up playing them at the same time.
But mostly HL2...lol.

I'm going to do my best to play HL:S first... haven even restricted myself from any HL2 vids, and most screenies.
