Has anyone else noticed that NPC's in Half-Life: Source no longer talk to one another? I mean they still spout out random lines, but not at other NPC's. It used to be you'd be wondering around with a Scientist and a Security guard and at random the Scientist would turn to the Guard and say something like, "I think this will make for a notable paper, don't you?"

Then the security guard would turn to him and say, "Will you be quiet?!"

Ect ect...

Another example:

Security guard says, "I bet you're glad I have this old sidearm with me, aren't cha'?"

Scientist, "You are completely wrong."

I've also noticed that security guards no longer say anything when they attack enemies or kill them.

Such as, "Aim for the head, if you can find it."

And, "That'll look good in my trophy room."

Is this something that can be fixed from the console or a feature that is simply lost in transfering Half-Life onto the Source engine?

HL:Source seems to have a lot of problems... I've never noticed Source NPCs interacting with each other beyond "Here, have a medkit.", which probably has something to do with it.

I know they should be able to reply to one another. In Half-Life 2 if you "use" an NPC they will say something and then the other NPC's will respond to that. However they don't say anything randomly without your having to "use" them. Where-as they do in HL: Source. It's not as if it makes the game unplayable, but I do miss it.

The NPCs in HL2 will talk if you stop for a little while. They'd hardly just break out in conversation just after a brutal firefight.

Truth.

Also, you can't expect anything from HL:S. It was just a test to see how well they could port GoldSRC HL to Source. It's got a lot of bugs and isn't any better than HL - in fact, it's worse.
