I'm having a few problems accessing cheats for HL Uplink (haven't bothered getting the original game yet, but I'm getting it soon promise) I've done evrything gamerevolution.com has told me to do, load C:\Sierra\Half-LifeUplink\hldemo.exe -dev -toconsole and it comes up with the console. But I try to load the last saved game by pressing F6 and it tells me that I'm not playing a local game, tis a bunch of poo. Plus it tells me to press the ~ key. Do I just press the key that the sign is on or do I hold shift then press the key? I am really confused and don't have a clue what to do. Some help would be brilliant

HL games should be in qwerty all the time, so just press the key. (If you have an AZERTY keyboard, press on the button below 'esc'. That should be the tilde (~).)

I do have a qwerty keyboard, I'm sure though pressing the button won't work unless I figure out the problem with the whole "Not playing a local game" peice of crap. This is what gamerevolution tells me to do and the lists of codes it gives me: To use codes, you have to run the game with the console enabled. Launch Half-Life in developer mode by going to your Windows Start menu, selecting "Run", and typing
C:\Sierra\Half-Life\hldemo.exe -dev -toconsole
Now load the last quick saved game (F6), then press the ~ key to pull down the console. Type in sv_cheats 1 and press Enter. Cheats are now enabled, but you need to die or reload your game before you can use them.

Now during play, press the ~ key and type in the following codes:

/god - God mode on/off
/notarget - Enemies ignore you
/impulse 101- All weapons and ammo
/impulse 102- Spawns giblets and blood
/impulse 103- Shows monster stats while looking at monster
/impulse 104- List global entities
/impulse 105- Silent Player
/impulse 106- Model/sprite stats, while looking at target
/impulse 107- Texture name, while looking at object
/impulse 195- AI mode on
/impulse 203- Delete monster or NPC from world
/thirdperson- Third person view
/firstperson- Return to first person view
/noclip - No Clipping (Walk Through Walls, Etc.)
/map C#A# - Go to any map (enter numbers for #: C1A1, C1A2, Etc.)
developer 1 - Developer mode on
developer 2 - Verbose developer mode
developer 0 - Developer mode off
/give XXXX - Gives any item. In place of "XXXX", enter one of the following:

item_airtank
item_antidote
item_battery
item_healthkit
item_longjump
item_security
item_sodacan
item_suit
ammo_357
ammo_9mmar
ammo_9mmbox
ammo_9mmclip
ammo_argrenades
ammo_buckshot
ammo_crossbow
ammo_egonclip
ammo_gaussclip
ammo_glockclip
ammo_mp5clip
ammo_mp5grenades
ammo_rpgclip
weapon_357
weapon_9mmar
weapon_9mmhandgun
weapon_crossbow
weapon_crowbar
weapon_egon
weapon_gauss
weapon_glock
weapon_handgrenade
weapon_hornetgun
weapon_mp5
weapon_python
weapon_rpg
weapon_satchel
weapon_shotgun
weapon_snark
weapon_tripmine

Some help would be nice........

Nobodies answered....answer damn you it's been days

Is this the Steam version or the non-Steam version? Because for the Steam version all you have to do is:

Left-click on the Steam tray icon.
Select "Games".
Click on the "My Games" tab.
Right-click on the game that you want to activate the console of.
Select "Properties".
Click on the "General" tab.
Click on the "Set Launch Options" button.
Put in the window box: -console
Click "OK"
Click "Close"

You should have the console now.

Non steam version, where do I get Steam version?

Ah nvm, thought Valve had brought over Uplink to Steam.

Well, I dunno then. :p
It should work as described in the cheat section.

It should but just explain to me about the "Not playing a local game" thing then I'll see if I can fix it or w/e. Hopefully the cheats should work then =D

That might work, I'll give it a try. The main reason I want to cheat on uplink is to get all the weapons and ammo and kill the gargantua at the end of the demo to get an extended demonstration. What actually happens after you get cornered anyway, does the ceiling collapse and pwn him? Does some Marine turn nice and fire an RPG at him to save you, or does Barney show up armed to the friggin teeth

EDIT: Nope did buggar all, I'll just email Valve about it. Anyone got their email address?

Okay, sorry for the double post, but I managed to get the cheats to work, for some reason it wasn't the ~ button that needed to be pressed like everyone said but it was the buton under Esc. that needed to be pressed.`¬¦ The button with those symbols on it. Now I'm wondering if nyone could send me the weapons files for, The RPG and I'm not sure if these weapons are actually in the game but, the glock, the satchel, the egon, the gauss, the crossbow, the python, the hornetgun, the tripmine, the snark and the 357. And all the corresponding ammuntion files please. I'll just shove them in my Uplink folder

The demo always ends when you fall into the little boxed area. If you were to kill the gargantua, the same would happen. There is NO continuation to the story whatsoever, as Uplink isn't actually in Half-Life 1 itself. And Barney never gets armed to the teeth. Every single one you meet continually fires away vainly with their glock. Rather sad :P

I know but i'd just love to see the gargantua on the floor while the screen fades out..........sooooooooooooo, weapon and ammo files please =D

I doubt it works like that, considering most of the HL stuff is packed away in gcf files or whatever they were back then (in which case they're inseperable from the rest of the HL content and no-one can give you them without giving you the rest of the game. And even then it probably wouldn't work due to incompatabilities between the ancient demo and the various HL versions out there). Just buy the game, and if you absolutely must play that bit with cheats enabled, play it through this mod. Easier to bring the HL:Uplink levels to HL than it is to disect the weapons out of HL and put them in HL:Uplink...

Oh, and Gargantuas blow up and leave nothing behind :P
