HL1 cheat help

I recently bought HL1 for my PC, I tried to enable cheats by opening the game with the console enabled. I clicked start, run and typed in, "C:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe -dev -toconsole" but it says something about opne of the components missing or something...any help would be appreciated

Make a new shortcut, name it "hl.exe -dev- toconsole" And run it. I don't know if it'll make a difference, but its worth a try.

I think the parameter is wrong. Try using -console instead of -toconsole.

If the game itself is corrupt then you can get steam to download a fresh copy. All you need to do is use the "activate a product on steam" command and punch in the serial number. It will then download the latest patched version via steam.

I found this very handy when I came to re-install HL1 but couldn't because the disc had been scratched.

It may be worth registering it with steam anyway as you may find that you get the expansion packs downloaded as well.

No, actually, HL1 will run quite happily from the CD without steam. How do you think it worked before steam was developed?
