HL1 Crosshair Missing

hey....
i was about an hour into half life 1 when i my crosshair dissappeared

i have typed "crosshair 1" into the dev console...but no results
i have also tried starting a new game.....and re-installing it....but nothing helped

if any of you have had a similar problem and know of any solutions.....please let me know

I had the same problem, i fixed it by deleting steam, and re installing... Not just Half Life, but Steam as well. Try that.
