My Mod Team are making a mod for a game but we don't know what engine :|

I have just found out you can download a mid program for Max Payne 2

We have disccused that maybe we will use the HL1 engine and later import it into source...

Unfourtanatley we are new to the whole modding scene so we need something easy to use

If you need something easy, start with the Half-Life engine. There's tons and tons of tutorials out there to help you mod, also, it has a big modding community, which means more resources and information.
And being able to upgrade it to the source engine is a big plus IMHO :).

We are only originally using the HL1 engine because one of our computers aren't good enough for it :|

As you said that you are new to the modding scene you should opt for the Half-Life Engine in my opinion. It may be old but it can still produce some pretty tricks.

Depends if you want it to have multiplayer at some point :)

I would say use max payne 2 or wait for something better. Hl wil last a while, but I suspect it will decline rapidly after hl2 comes out. Meaning you will get a lot less help, even though there are tutorials out there.

Just wait a few weeks and work on source.

Really.

No really, it is the best idea.

Mp2 uses havok, from what ive seen its the closest thing to source you can get

The Half-life 1 engine

But i think you should go with source.

We will import our HL1 mod into source :)
