Thought it might be a good idea to put all of these in one thread.

Okay, these are the ones I know of so far, have ran the verification program (even though I installed from DVD) to be sure files are okay and experienced all of the following.

1. The memory could not be read random crashing. Does not appear to be specific to any hardware.

2. Random stuttering, sometimes pausing for 5-10 seconds. Does not appear to be specific to any hardware.

3. LOGITECH - Major mouse speed slowdown both in menu and ingame when "Disable acceleration in games" option in MouseWare control panel is checked while acceleration is enabled for desktop use in current driverset MouseWare 9.79.1. These are the default driver settings, which work fine with all other games.

4. NVIDIA 6x00 series (all driver verisons) - After playing Half Life 2, quitting, then restarting it, certain areas of levels where water is visible cause graphic corruption to be seen across the top of the screen, usually upper left of screen but sometimes along entire top of screen - looks like snow. The corruption seems to be triggered by water. By changing resolutions, the corruption temporarily goes away most of the time, however when you hit another "trigger" spot (usually water), it will come back. The hovercraft level is affected very badly by this due to all the water. To prevent it from coming back, the best solution is to reboot, as when playing HL2 the first time after your computer starts, the bug never surfaces.

Any other major ones?

The radom stuttering can be solved by turning down the settings a bit, i used to get them quite bad, then it would start removing things from the scenery before it would resume the gameplay.

Here is an updated list with bugs still present in the current version:

GENERAL

1. The memory could not be read random crashing. Does not appear to be specific to any hardware.

2. Random stuttering, sometimes pausing the game for 5-10 seconds while sound stutters. Does not appear to be specific to any hardware.

1. NVIDIA GeForce 6 Series: Screen corruption on game quit & restart with water shaders & some holo-screens
After playing Half Life 2, quitting, then restarting it, certain areas of levels where water is visible cause graphic corruption to be seen across the top of the screen, usually upper left of screen but sometimes along entire top of screen - looks like white snow. The corruption seems to be triggered by water primarily, though some holo-screens appear to trigger it as well.
Bug affects all driver revisions currently available as of this posting.

2. NVIDIA GeForce 6 Series: Texture Lighting Errors
Some textures will not light properly and will remain pitch black unless lit from a specific angle. Example of Bug:

Bug affects all driver revisions currently available as of this posting.

3. ATI 9x00 and x800 Series: Rainbow Textures
Some textures will have a rainbow effect when Catalyst AI is enabled for performance increases. Example of bug:
http://www.rage3d.com/board/showpost.php?p=1333355267&postcount=1
Bug affects all current driver revisions later than 4.9 when AI is enabled as of this posting.

4. All cards?: Subtle banding in water
Certain bodies of water have a subtle banding effect if you look for it. Since this bug would go unnoticed by most as it is hard to see and does not happen everywhere, it is unknown whether it is a general bug or affects specific hardware. Example of bug:

About the stuttering: see my earlier post on how I fixed this. basically, format, reinstall windows up to service pack 1, install nvidia 67.02 betas and July 29 Audigy 2 drivers, redownload steam and HL2 without interrupting the download. No stuttering beyond first 0.1-0.2 seconds after a load, no hard locks, and substantially improved framerate.

About the video corruption issue: I used to have this problem as well (I'm running a 6800 Ultra). It too was fixed by the reformat, reinstall, re-download solution.

About the texturing problem: this is probably due to either corrupted texture files or from remnants of conflicting driver versions. I never had this problem, but I've seen posts from people who do and it seems as though its fixed by redownloading Hl2 without interrupting the DL and performing a clean install of video drivers.

About the input issue with logitech devices. I do not think this is a bug (I have all logitech wireless stuff). As I'm sure you know there is a mouse speed slider in the controls menu of Hl2. The issue your talking about can be fixed simply by moving the slider to the middle of the scale. This slowdown issue is common in games that have mouse speed controls.

The only setting at which I get sound is the headphone setting, not 2 speakers or n speakers and certainly not the 5.1 setting. (Half-life autoconfigured itself for the 5.1 setting.)

This is a confirmed Nvidia DX9 bug by several users. It happens with both my Steam version and my retail DVD, so corrupted data is out of the question. I have posted a saved game at the original thread and several users that said they never experienced it, said the bug was indeed there but never actually noticed it. The bug is eliminated instantly when I run my card in DX8.1. The bug is not present on X800 cards. I have both a 6800 Ultra and an X800 Pro.Only the 6800U suffers from it.

Logitech:

I did get massive slowdown with MX510 and 9.80 drivers until I noticed that in HL2 I need to click "apply" button after moving sensitivity slider:-)
