HL2 and CS:S closing

Well both of these games are Source games so I assume it's something to do with my PC using the engine itself, but when I run these games they show a brief view of the first screen you see when loading then immediatly close, is there anyway to fix this?

it could be anything really.....if you provide your specs it might help narrow it down....also, make sure you have the most recent drivers installed.......

Can't seem to find any information about my video card, but the specs of my PC shouldn't matter, it should at least run... whether it runs slow or choppy, it just closes.

I heard somewhere something about directx9, I installed that and it still didn't work.

your trying to run it on a 564mhz proccesor???? theres your problem right there.
btw you didnt say full pc specs but the cpu just rules everything out, but just to help out more could you find out what graphics card you have?

I've ran plenty of games I shouldn't have been able to run on this computer, they just ran slow, trust me, HL2 should at least load up, whether or not it plays properly isn't at the top of my priorities.

Do you have the latest sound drivers, the latest graphic drivers and the latest DirectX drivers? (9.0c June Update)

If you dont meet the minumum system requirments, it shouldnt have to do anything.....

which games? hl2 requires alot of cpu because of the physics engine

564?!!! i have 512Mb and my processor is clocked 1.6 ( used to be 2.1, dont know how it when down... ) and i can just barly run HL2, i need ( and want ) to upgrade! you need to up grade... to tell you the truth though... it would probably be cheaper to buy a used Xbox and used copy of Half life 2 for Xbox then to upgrade your PC.
