I find gamespot to be pretty good lately at Reviewing games with their point system. Do you think HL2's score will suffer in reviews because of the lack of MP?

Interesting thought..but gamespot is usually very hard on games. The only game on that site that I saw that had a perfect 10 was chrono cross.

hl2 does have multiplayer and that is counter strike source, how would that affect reviews...

Hmm. I recall Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time had a 10 too. One or two others had a perfect score too...

Anyway, Half Life 2 does have multiplayer. Is is MP in the 'traditional' sense? No. But it's still MP. And while some people don't like CS, a whole lot of others do. Not to mention with all the modding potential, Valve could've even just left CS:S out if they had really wanted; the community will easily fill any voids.

thank you warlock you said exactly what i mean... :)

well it depends on ur point of view really.
the pple who are upset about CS:Source as HL2's MP will tell u that they were looking forward to a HL2 themed MP.

sure the masses play CS and will play CS:Source but im sure theres also alot pple sick of CS in general as well.
as i said.. its a matter of point of view.

It really depends on how well the single-player is handled. If its perfect (Here's hoping it is, as it most likely will be near perfect from everything we've heard) then i dont think it will effect the score that much, but it certainly could

the multiplayer IS CS:S, and GS gushes at variety, which CS:S adds. and it can only help the Value score. 2 games for the price of 1

btw, i am a mod at the GS forums, i know all about GS =]

well i think it will effect it in a positive way cuz css is a better mp than hl2dm would be (gameplay)

Hmmm... let's see.... HL had HL SP and a simple HLDM mode. Got great ratings.

And HL2 has HL2 SP and CS:S, which is much more elaborate.

So my guess is no.

Doom 3 had worse MP, did it effect reviews? Not hardly. In fact, Doom 3 was terrible, did it effect reviews, not really.

it shouldn't have an impact. gamespot will look at it as "okay counter strike: source is the mp" they shouldn't review based on what's NOT the mp. they can only write on the strengths/weaknesses of what exists, not what doesn't exist (hl2dm)
