HL2, bug in the game?

Hello

I just want to ask one thing about the HL2.

I am in the chapter "Our Benefactors" I started the chapter, and Dr.Breen has talkeld with me, and i kill some troops and Dr.Breen talk to me again.(second time Dr.Breen talks with me.) And now i see railings i want to jump over, but i CANT JUMP! PS. I cant jump on this chapter from beggining :frown:

I have seen many faqs and everybody says to jump over the railings. So can somebody of you tell me what to do? :angel:

You can see this faq too, this says to jump over the railings, i have marked with red script to tell you where i am exactly:

When he shuts up, turn directly around and face the wall. Now slightly to the
right at about your 2 o'clock (about 8 o'clock when facing the console) is a
passage-way you can go down. Do so and jump the railing at the end (there is a
blue force field on your left as soon as you jump over, just so you know). Keep
going forward into a room with a huge machine in the middle of it that has a
big blue and white beam running through it (don't touch it or the energy around
it!). Past the machine and beam (you can go around it left or right) are two
paths. The left one is blocked by a force field, so take the right one as Com-
bine soldiers attack you. Wanna see something cool? Throw one of them into that
machine. He he he.

There was another thread where someone was having trouble jumping over at that part... maybe Valve have messed something up.

I tried again on the previous chapters and i can jump there.

You have any idea of what I should do? Maybe any sites there i can contact Valve? Because I am not taking this shit, I payed for the game :angry:

Well, to start off in Our Benefactors, you need to do some jumping to get into the citadel. On them cliffs?
Also, you payed for the game - so what? So did I, and Episode One, but I got through with my crappy computer. If your that desperate to contact Valve, get a support ticket at www.steampowered.com

just open console in game then type noclip, then you are able to fly past the bit u are stuck on..

I know i am newb, but one last question, how i open the console. I can in ordinary CS but i dont know how in source and HL2, its other button :O

Controls, Edit keyboard, there should be a console option which is blank, just assign the key to ~

I've heard of this bug a few times before. Go to where your stuck and open the console with either ~ or ? (it depends on your keyboard, either way, it's the button below Esc). Then type in "sv_cheats 1" (without quatation marks) and hit enter. Then type in "noclip" (again without quotation marks). This will allow you to fly. Exit the console and go back in-game. Fly over the railing and onto the next section. Open the console again and enter "noclip" once more to turn off the cheat and return your game to normal. Continue from there.

It's a bug that happens when you press your jump key while you're riding in one of the pods. Sometimes if you do that, you won't be able to jump anymore when you are released from the pod. So reload the chapter (or map) and make sure you don't do that again.

Please, enlighten us. What could he POSSIBLY have mistaken for "black magic" in HL2. His English isn't that bad really - certainly not so bad that he would have said (or thought) he conjured up some spells somehow in HL2. How the hell do you get any type of mystical wizardry from any events in HL2, let alone tell us that he had "got the black magic". What in HL2 could seriously be considered or described as "getting black magic"?

I said "seriously", not "impossible". No-one can SERIOUSLY say there is actual "magic" in HL2, unless they are retarded. Or do you automatically think of guns as "boom-sticks" too? Do you think that the vehicles are magical carriages? The choppers are powered by happy little elves dust? Do you really think that magic is somewhere in HL2 at all? Or that actual magic is even hinted at? Get a grip.

As for the laughing thing: fu*k off. If you cry when someone laughs, or take it as an insult, go take your sensitive ass somewhere else. I like to laugh.

I had the exact same problem as you did and i found out why. apparently when i hit the spacebar in the part where you are being removed of your weapons. This is the region where grav is low. Then, i could neva jump again. I restarted the lvl going through the whole dam citadel and then i kept my hands away from the keyboard. Then, it works.
