HL2 - can't even install...

I've owned HL2 for a while and have had it installed on my laptop for well over a year. It worked flawlessly on the laptop, on which I run XP Professional.

I just got a new desktop with Vista... and I cannot even get it to install, let alone play! About halfway through loading CD 4, I get the following error message:

Error 1334. The file 'hl2.ico1' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'hl24.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

Anyone have any input to offer on this? I've been psyched to play on the desktop and now I'm just annoyed and bitter.

Use STEAM.

yes i would recommend using steam if the cds do not work. you will be able to download hl2 through steam since your cd key is tied to your steam account.

It is a well known bug in the installer. Un-checking CounterStrike: Source within Setup causes it - you have to install it with HL2 to make the error go away.
