hl2 cd wont read

the game has been working fine until lately and when ever i try and play hl2 it says please put hl2 in ur dvd rom drive when it is already in there.the disk has no scratches on it. can anyone help me fix this?

the drive is still new (about 3 months). i have 2 drives in my comp a dvd rom and a dvdwriter ive tryed the disk in both and still nothing. the disk has no scratches on it at all

New drivers? Maybe. I am not sure why the problem came out of no where. Did you do anything to your computer recently that could have caused these problems? Also, did you try to reinstall HL2?

have you installed anything like daemon tools, alcohol, etc..

i have no idea what a daemon tool is but i dont think so.

What CD are you using? Doesn't it come with I think like 5 cds? Did you try them all?

i have the half-life 2 collectors edition which comes on 1 dvd. does anyone think reformatting my hard drive might fix the cd problem?.
