Thought I'd post this for everyone on the HL2.net community. Just an interesting little diversion that I created today after the news of yesterday's announcement. Can't wait to pick up the crowbar for the next chapter of this incredible story; I hope that, at least from a narrative standpoint, it raises as many new questions as it answers.

Enjoy.

HL2 Countdown Clock

pfft,it works fine and looks good. :)

just let me mute it, then it can keep my second monitor busy :)

Thanks... I was finding it hard to get as excited as everyone else, but seeing those numbers count down started me a tinglin' ;) Good work.

hey guys i just registered for this forums. love the countdown...posted the link all over the place ;)

where did you get the music? its really weird cus i'm just trying to teach myself flash and listening to this at the same time helps me concentrate so much more.

Does that clock ends when it's 0.00 in NY?
No, and yet oddly, its not Seattle time either. It looks like its set for 1am PST. Nathaniel/FronK's wallpaper clock has the same time.

I do like the audio 'atmosphere' a lot. I wonder if I can encorporate it into the wallpaper clock.

the music is almost hypnotising.... mmm...

Thanks for the comments. The music is actually not that big of a mystery ... it's the intro music from Half-Life as you enter Black Mesa on the elevated tram.

To answer some of the questions about the time calculation: it is actually calculated based on the client system's clock, not from any sort of time server. Zero hour is the stroke of midnight on Nov. 16. For those with nothing better to do, try changing your date and time and it will immediately alter the countdown. DISCLAIMER: This will not make HL2 come out any sooner. :E

I made it do something a little bizarre at zero hour, but it's nothing exciting. Perhaps if I'm inspired, I'll change it to something more creepy and interesting as the release draws closer. ;)

Very nice touch, especially with the considerable amout of time zone confusion. I set it to Nov 15 and it did indeed read 11 hours etc etc.

hey great man
...only one thing

a little sound ON/OFF button? cos i'd like to have this thing on always..right until i rip off the plastic and put in the DVD...but the damn sound is incredibly annoying...

lol super thanks

Cool. I knew immediatly I could trick it with my PC clock :)

I use it on my other computer ( sitting idle but running )
It makes a good screensaver.
