HL2 crashes ??

When i run hl2, there is a movie with valve and havok, and after that, the cursor shows on black screen, and thats all. My proc is using in 100% (ctrl+alt+del) HELP PLZ...

There are some things you could try here.

I definitely wouldn't try the registry one, though.

Mine does some what the same thing, though I get a fuzzy screen, save the readable word loading, the a deep toned"bong bong" from the speakers. after those noises, have to restart as everything freezes. I did finally try to task bar out before the sounds and came up with this error message.

As of yet I have not idea what it means or how to take care of it, have increased My video memory, reloaded the entire game more times than there are discs in the game. so at this point,simply hoping some one knows computers better then I do (not a far journy) can give Me a clue as to what to do. Oh yes, latest drivers, latest down loads, LOL, smiling, is truely a task at times.

Sounds like a real pain in the ass. could you post your computer specs plz so that i could try to help u further? coz i used to have that same prob with most dx9 programs till i swaped out my ram for a different make. sine then its been happy fragging.

i have the same problem.. yet mine works in cs:s and not the other 2.

my specs are as follows


p4 3.0 800fsb
intel d865gbfl a tx p4
ddr400 256 3200 (2 sticks)
geforce fx 5200

Ive done a fresh install of xp pro with sp2. I also updated chipset drivers (nforce2).

I'm replacing the CPU and ram next week. My ram is faulty
